This happens to me with some items but not others. Some I will use way too much and then not have them when I acutally need them, and some I will almost never use.

There is no middle ground.

Nice comic, wrong game. Would work better with Sacred Stones though since the main character actually controls the stash in that (might be others but I've only played two FE games). It's also rather amusing to think of Hector getting hurt enough that he urgently needs healing.

Anyway, I tend to focus a lot of magic to replace items. Often there's a magical alternative to most items, so I don't tote around as many healing items at the cost of needing more magic restoring items. Lets me conserve items with a bit less cost.

EarthBound is a relative nightmare for the conservative gamer. With 14 item slots, each single item taking up one slot rather than be grouped together with x X, crows that love to give you cookies, and 3-7 of those items already being a piece of plastic, a rock, equipment, and a phone that only serves plot purposes and to let your dad bug the hell out of you every 20 minutes- which he'll do even if you don't have the daisies phone- you'll be lucky to conserve anything at all. God help you if you get honey made from flies, broken crap, or a bicycle. (How the hell can you keep a bicycle in the same number of item slots as an ATM card anyway?)

You do get outside storage, but that requires a phone and 18 per 3 items, so you either have to one-way-trip teleport back to town, or backtrack. Also, Mother 3 circumvents this evil by putting all MacGuffins and other key items in a separate inventory, and allowing save spots to also handle banking. Too bad you have to hunt down a hobo if you wish to store your Lipsticks of Involuntary Auto-Life.

I'd also mention the Diablos for using an item size-based inventory, but at least those had two-way teleportation.

I ussually do this, not wanting to use items in case I need them later, except I think I'll need them later in the same situations.

This kinda happens to me in MM3.

Dude, Switch to the Search Snakes!
Umm, I don't think I should do that.
Why Not? It's this guys weakness!
But what if I run out of power while I'm using it? I heard if you run out of power, The Search Snakes are gone forever!
Thats just a myth.
No, its not! What if the Search Snakes are the final bosses weakness?
It's the crappiest Weapon in the game!
Yada Yada Yada

More like why does he look like Roy, can't Katie just end this charade and insert Roy into every future comic? I'm sure that'd make things easier for her and it'd reduce the "accidentally"-looks-like-Roy rate among characters.

I usually fall victim to this in, oh, every game I play that involves an inventory. Curses. Probably has to do with me being a pack rat or something.

I do this in FFX with equipment. I'll never throw away any piece of equipment I get, even if it's totally worthless (like +3% attack on a staff for Yuna, or something). Towards the end of the game, when you're pretty much set on one weapon for each character, I still have all the old weapons, because what if I want to customize some of the older ones into something awesome one day?

I also do this in Cockfighting Society, though only with evolution stones. Even though now in DP you can dig them up infinitely, I still have the old habits from my GSC days where you only got one of each.

Just joined because the truth of that statement is scary.

I'm even worse, because I hoard vulneraries even though I don't even need them anymore! I've got like, seven mages and they can all use healing staves by the time I get to the super-hard chapters, and if they get hurt I just use another healer to heal THEM. This means that not only do vulneraries take up space in my stock, I've got about three untouched Mend staves that nobody needs anymore because my healers can all restore about 40HP in one go.

Does anyone else rotate used/new weapons out? Like, if someone's got a new Iron sword and a person you aren't using in the battle has a sword with about 12 uses left, you switch the new sword for the used one so that you don't waste precious, precious weaponry? Because I do that all the time.

God, I only played the demo and it's all coming flooding back.

Almost worse: Baldur's Gate. "Okay, each player is yellow encumbrance due to their armour weighing them down and we need to carry this corpse back through the random encounter area. Anyone feel like dropping their breastplate on the ground?"
(Of course, you cheat by telling the characters to move and then picking up the corpse to move it in inventory since it weighs nothing while on the end of the cursor)
