The primary requirement of using Spiritbending is having an unbendable spirit. In other words, being firm in yourself to the point of being able to withstand any kind of opposition. It tends to correlate to extremely high levels of spiritualism, which would back up him being able to even talk to Koh in that theory. I don't think he lost his face though, because Koh steals a face if it reacts to him, but I don't know about any bargains he could do.

Maybe I'm nitpicking, But Koh usually steals the face, eyes, nose, mouth, and all whenever he takes a face.

I dunno how a stolen face would appear in the regular world though. We only saw a spirit-world monkey with no face, and we know the last Water Avatar lost his wife's face, but we don't know what exactly happened to her - I feel like its implied that she died.

Maybe a stolen face could translate to a disfigured face, who knows.

I thought it was implied that if Koh stole your spirit's face, you died, or at the very least were stuck in the spirit realm as a faceless entity (hence the one faceless monkey, unless humans and animals have different rules to abide by).

Also in regards to "How can such an unassuming person (in regards to no bending) be able to have such power?" I wouldn't say that his background is enough for his claims to be false. After all, it makes sense for him to have such incredible power. Antagonists are antagonists because they go against the beliefs of the protagonist and they have the ability to pose a legitimate threat. Amon has the power, he has the motivation, and he clearly has the will to achieve his goal.

You mentioned that Aang's spiritbending was an incredible feat. Well, so was bending lightning for firebenders. So was Toph's metalbending - hell, she invented it. Yet now you see an entire police force capable of bending metal, and multitudes of firebenders using their lightning to power generators. While you can argue that none of them were the Avatar, if something happens once it's bound to happen again. Maybe spiritbending has nothing to do with actual bending, or it's such a rare, difficult to detect bending ability (due to the lack of any physical evidence) that those born with it never even realize. After all, Aang has the ability to learn to bend all the elements, so who is to say spiritbending isn't a naturally occuring ability that he could learn?

Don't get me wrong, I like your theory but it seems a bit predictable. I'd like it if the writers went full-force with it, and I'd like to see what their explanation is.

My favorite funny moment this episode was definitely when Korra punted the two little girls with her earthbending. "Teehee, so do you like him, or do you LIIIIIIIIIKE hi-" PUNT.

Did anyone else notice the statue of Zuko that was in the square where Bolin hung out?

Did you also notice the difference between:

and:

Ozai's statue is all about showing off his firebending as power and his way of domination. Zuko shows his firebending as a guiding light. I like these subtle touches.

Also, I actually thought about Amon being linked to Koh as well. His mask isn't much evidence, but it does make me think I'm right. When talking to Koh it was very important not to show any expressions. Amon's mask is, basically, expressionless. He doesn't quite laugh or frown. This combined with dropping the part about 'losing his face' only strengthened my suspicion.

I like speculation because no matter how long we carry on this theory there's like a 90% chance it'll be something completely different

but we'll still love it.

Found this interesting series of Tumblr posts theorizing about Amon's spirit/energybending. Their claim is more along the lines of SaintCrazy - that it's a hoax and form of chi-blocking. The argument's a fun read.

So the season finale of Young Justice is tomorrow. Is anybody else gonna watch it?

Just saw last night's episode of Transformer's Prime. It was pretty awesome. Megatron decided to fuel the ship with Dark Energon, which gave the ship a mind of its own.

Also, it looks like they'll be heading to Manhattan, because there are some powerful artifacts there.

Has anybody else been watching Transformer's Prime?

There's this new show premiering on Disney XD tomorrow called Motor City. It has the creators of Megas XLR and Metalocalypse working on it.

Disney XD also has a new upcoming series called Tron: Uprising. The visuals are fantastic, as they should be.

I've been watching the new Thundercats since the beginning and I think it's pretty awesome. But is there anyone else who also thinks that the plot has been less well written in season 2?

Somehow I feel like the action isn't as fast paced and they're sort of shoehorning in a lot of character development in as little time as possible.

I can understand where you're coming from. Some of the character development does feel kind of shoe-horned, but I believe that it's lot better than most other cartoons I've seen recently. The back story for Wilykit and kat was pretty cool, but Tigra's was kind of meh.

Still, the next episode looks pretty promising. They're going to attack a big mining facility and rescue a bunch of cats.
