Gentlemen, let me tell you of why I am now terrified to sleep on long car trips.

I am an easy sleeper. I can and have slept just about anywhere. Yacht, canoe, plane, train, automobile, church, at a matching band practice while standing up, you name it. But the past two times I've been in a car on a long drive have been absolute hell.

Going to Canada for a camping trip, I sat in the bitch seat. That's the middle seat and because I didn't want to awkwardly lean on one of my bros, I rested my arms on my knees and my head in my hands. I fell asleep pretty daisies quickly. Now what happened from about Lafayette to Chicago made it hell. I was fucking conscious while sleeping. In the simplest terms, my mind was awake but my body was not. I had full control over my thoughts and over my muscles, except that I didnt. I couldn't move a single part of my body. Any time i tried i was greeted with immense pain. All I saw was blackness and I couldn't do a single thing. I wanted to scream for someone to wake me up so I didnt have to feel pain anymore.

Eventually I did manage to wake myself up but it was so daisies difficult. It was like, picture a 300 pound weight on your neck, and you can't use your hands to lift your head up. I felt so relieved, but because I didn't think anyone would believe me I didnt say a word about it. I just played a game for the rest of the way until we changed seats and I had an actual headrest.

Now what happened the day I left for Korea? Driving from Kokomo to O'Hare. It fucking happened again. This time it was harder to wake up. Now I dont want to sleep on car trips anymore. I don't want that shit to happen again. I felt like I was going mad.


Might not be creepy for you, but scares the shit out of me.

In regards to the "300 pound neck" thing, I think that something similar happened to me this morning, except I was only half-conscious and the "weight" was on my lying back. Around the second time I tried to get up, I suddenly felt the most amount of despair I'd ever felt, and my entire body nearly locked down. Luckily it didn't, but... creepy stuff. It reminds me of those dreams where you wake up in the dream completely unable to move, talk, or even breathe... which makes me think, what's happening at the same time in the real world while the dream's happening?

For me the easiest way to wake up from a dream when I know or suspect I'm dreaming is to just try opening my eyes even though they are already open in my dream. You could try that.
