I've been completely off of superhero comics a good few years ago now; I only really buy Deadpool somewhat frequently and occasionally I'll get Iron Man or Spidey if a cover catches my eye.

I generally find comics that aren't about superheroes/extraordinary people to be incredibly dull though - I really don't have the inclination or desire to buy a comic about somebody who works at McDonalds (that being the high-point of their everyday routine).

Comics - even more so than books - are about escapism; Comics reflecting on normal everyday life (without any kind of extraordinary element) are booooring.

I think I spotted a Portal reference in today's episode of Flapjack.

Maybe. Just a little one.

So DC Comics wants their Flashpoint event to be almost exactly like Crisis on Infinite Earths, the retcon event that took place in 1985, which rebooted the DC universe. Isn't that the event that Infinite Crisis and Final Crisis were supposed to be like? Those two events sure didn't change anything.

Speaking of change, comic book fans despise it. DC created new looks for their characters, and I'm pretty sure that those new looks will be gone pretty quickly. "The more things change, the more they stay the same" is almost a concrete truth in the comic book industry.

Don't comic books retcon like hell regardless of whatever event is going on? I mean they don't even seem to have set writers, so their continuity is all over the place.
