Boy, do I have a story to tell you guys. Sit back and relax, because this is going to be a doozy:

My family and I recently moved back to our home state of Massachusetts, from California. We lived around Fresno, which is notorious for high crime rates and drug problems.

My mother's license expired this year, so she had to go to the RMV today to get a reciprocal license. This is when they take your out-of-state license and run it through a machine, to exchange it for a new in-state license.

A man at the front desk was especially rude to her, often not paying attention. He asked a woman nearby about her situation (using vague details), and subsequently gave her a form to fill out. About an hour later, she was called in, only to be informed that it was the wrong form. They started to copy the information onto the new sheet, but they needed proof of ID.

She showed them her California driver's license and her old Massachusetts license. They claimed to need proof of address, so she showed them her social security card. Again, they need more proof. They get the registry to our car (which we bought locally), and things appear to be running smoothly.

Then, it happened.

When they ran her California license through the machine, she appeared as a "high-risk" 10. This means that she was categorized as a possible domestic terrorist. It was also the first time they had ever seen such a thing, so everyone was shaken up.

My mother is 51 years old, is employed at a small bank as controller of accounting, and makes around $85,000 a year. This is not the kind of woman you normally associate with terrorism.

To confirm, they ran the license through a different machine, and everything came up fine. A temporary license was issued to her, though the employees were still a bit scared. They forgot to give her her eye exam, too.

The only explanation I can come up with is our three-year stay in a high-crime area, but even then, that's no excuse for stupid screw-ups like this.

When people hear the word terrorist they lose all common sense [insert Deadpool "common sense" superpower picture].

Back in my student days I took a trip to a major city and I was stop-searched by police officers under the anti-terrorism act.

I had long hair, was wearing an anti-war t-shirt and carrying a rucksack.

To be honest if they had any sense they would have realised that the perfect disguise for an actual terrorist would have been to look like everyone else - i.e. wear a business suit and carry a briefcase, not stand out like a sore thumb.

Longstoryshort - police/officials are stupid.

On behalf of Massachusetts, welcome to false positives and high taxes.

GTFO.

I seriously hate people who come into threads like these and leave pointless comments.

My mother could have gotten arrested. This isn't something you make a fucking joke about, okay?

Did you know a baby was identified as a terrorist a few years back? Shows how smart the US is now. :\

Maybe we should put natural selection into their vocabulary...
*loads shotgun*
...
The shot gun is just to shoot down their door so we can give them a dictionary.

Hey, get a baby cruising at a good 50 mph at someone and they can do a lot of damage. Shits crazy.

I seriously hate people who go onto internet forums, post a wall of text, and then have a spasm when someone says that they didn't bother reading it.

It isn't something so significant that you have to jump around on the roof like a twat about.

Please tell me you didn't sit there and think "Good golly, I think I might turn to the Awkward Zombie-goers for emotional support!"
